*DESCRIPTION*
The Health Sciences Instructor will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the licensing exam for Arkansas CNA.
Assist students in registering for the Arkansas State CNA licensing exam and other Health Sciences Career Pathways.
The instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
*SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES*
1.
Teach the course curriculum as outlined by the Office of Long-Term Care and other instructional Health Sciences educational training programs developed for adults.
2.
Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license and other Health Sciences certification
3.
Create, develop, implement, and teach new healthcare training programs such as First Aid/CPR, Phlebotomy, etc.
4.
Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content
5.
Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
6.
Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical training facilities, Adult Ed and SAU Tech staff, and prospective employers
7.
Maintain and develop partnerships with healthcare facilities and/or employers, and work as a team with Adult Education Staff.
8.
Recruit students for the Healthcare training programs and assist with other recruitment activities as needed.
9.
Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
10.
Participate in professional development workshops as required.
11.
Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines
12.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director
*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
1.
Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse currently licensed in Arkansas.
2.
Three to five years’ nursing experience and at least one year of long-term experience within the last five years.
Experience may include, but is not limited to, employment in a nursing assistant education program or employment in or supervision of nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department (excluding geriatric psychiatry), long-term acute care hospital, home care, hospice care or other long term care setting.

Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting
4.
Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

Ability to work day/evenings \*Some classes may start at 4:30 pm
