**Staff Nurse Responsibilities:** The staff nurse reports to the Director of Nursing Service and is responsible for planning, supervising, and evaluating: - All nursing functions during their tour of duty.
- Administration of nursing home routines and policies during their tour of duty.
- Ensuring all personnel on the unit function to the maximum capacity during their tour of duty.
- Maintaining the highest quality of patient care in compliance with physician’s orders.
- Cooperating in planning and evaluating experiences for employees under their supervision.
- Keeping all matters concerning the nursing home, patients, and personnel in strict confidence.

) - Refraining from any type of gossip.
- Participating on designated committees in nursing service.
**Duties Include:** Functions related to patient care: - Cooperating with the supervisor in setting up a nursing care plan for each patient.
- Assigning specific duties to nursing personnel under their supervision.
- Assisting the supervisor in preparing time schedules.
- Providing proper assistance to medical staff.
- Directing and supervising the activities of the nursing personnel assigned to the unit during their tour of duty.
- Checking all patients’ charts for accurate reporting and recording of symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Visiting patients frequently to evaluate their condition and need for nursing care.
- Rendering direct nursing care as needed.
- Working in any patient care area assigned by their immediate supervisor.
- Supervising nursing assistants.
- Enforcing nursing assistant training.
- Providing on-duty orientation for licensed personnel.
- Assigning nurses cleaning duties.
- Obtaining laboratory specimens.
- Assisting nurses during stress situations.
- Collecting and filing work sheets weekly.
- Keeping daily and weekly BP requests updated.
- Checking daily, weekly, and monthly weights.
- Checking charts for content.
